Team PixelPaddle had the privilege to catch up with Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada, and the Honourable Terry Beech, Minister of Citizens’ Services of Canada on an exciting afternoon session hosted by Burnaby Board of Trade in May 2024.
The Ministers shared insights on the 2024-2025 Immigration Levels Plan, addressing newcomer inclusion, changes in international student permit application caps, and challenges for post-secondary institutions. This engaging discussion underscored the government’s dedication to using immigration as a catalyst for economic growth and community development while ensuring comprehensive support for newcomers to thrive in Canada.
During the networking session, Mr. Meer Anwar, CEO of PixelPaddle, introduced Mr. Beech to PixelPaddle—a unique SaaS Sports Metaverse solution that is gaining traction in both local and international markets as part of its startup journey in Canada. Also a quick discussion followed on the capacity building of young graduates and newcomers to Canada, particularly in the tech sector, and the challenges they face in securing employment due to unfamiliarity with workplace ethics and norms. PixelPaddle team also conducted a follow-up online session with Mr. Beech [July 2024], to present their solution and the concept of training youth using the Runbook methodology to efficiently capture employment opportunities for youth in tech sector.
